Skilltrack specialises in offering courses that are tailored to the needs of the water rescue services and uses experienced trainers with operational experience taken from the fire and rescue services, police and armed services. Driving a Powerboat
The basis of this course is the RYA Powerboat Level 2. This is the recognised rescue services standard for being a competent small boat handler. The course is adapted for search and rescue (SAR).
Duration 3 days (2 days Power Boat Level 2 and 1 day search and rescue).

VHF/DSC
The VHF radio is used across multidisciplinary services. It is the common communications tool. This is a classroom based course that explains the procedures for using a VHF radio.

Basic Navigation
The Basic Navigation course is an introduction to navigation and safety. The course explains tides, shows how to read a chart, plot tidal curves and explains basic water safety.

Basic Sea Survival
The sea survival course covers the medical conditions that may be encountered in a survival situation, the correct procedures for summoning assistance and how to survive until assistance is obtained.

Unstable Ground Rescue
The East coast of England is renowned for its muddy foreshores. Mud rescue techniques are particularly important for rescue teams working in these areas. The techniques can be modified to deal with ice rescue.

Diesel Engine Maintenance
This RYA accredited course provides awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine. The course teaches basic diagnostics and how to rectify minor defects whilst on the water. This course is suitable for those crewing and helming vessels using diesel engines.
