VHF/DSC
The VHF radio is the common communications tool for marine users. This is a classroom based course that explains the procedures for using a VHF radio. And the importance of digital selective calling.

Basic Navigation and Safety
The basic navigation course is a great introduction to those new to water based activities. The course involves basic chart plotting, understanding tides and safety.

Basic Sea Survival
The Water survival course covers the health risks and survival techniques of being in the water. It explains the importance of lifejackets, how to use flares and emergency beacons. It also covers the life raft types and gives the opportunity for the practical experience of using a life raft in a swimming pool setting. Skilltrack keeps the numbers on this course to eight or less and charges a slight premium. This minimises the length of time that participants spend waiting around for their go.

Diesel Engine Maintenance
This RYA accredited course provides awareness of the main system of a marine diesel engine. The course teaches basic diagnostics and how to rectify minor defects whilst on the water. This course is suitable for those crewing and helming diesel engines.

CEVNI Exam
This is the necessary endorsement on the International Certificate of Competence for skippers using the Inland European Waterways. This examination is available through Skilltrack.

Day Skipper Theory
By the end of this course you will understand the principles of coastal navigation and pilotage. The course covers an introduction to marine terminology, seamanship, safety, collision regulations chart work and tides. The course includes the RYA examination for Dayskipper theory.
Duration 7 evenings and one weekend.

Coastal Skipper/Yacht Master Theory
The Yacht master theory builds on the knowledge gained in Day Skipper. The course covers pilotage, electronic navigation, tides, passage planning, Safety, collision regulations, weather. The course includes the examination for Coastal skipper/Yachtmaster theory.
Duration 8 evenings and one weekend.

Own boat tuition is available for poweboats with the following drives:
